The Love That Let Us Share Our Name

Always remember there was nothing worth sharing
Like the love that let us share our name
Always remember there was nothing worth sharing
Like the love that let us share our name

--Avett Brothers

There have been so many moments when I look at Sophie and Audrey and think, "this...this is pretty amazing."  They have each other.  They recognize that they have each other.  And so there will be many times when Sophie can get Audrey to laugh in the middle of her cries.  Deep, full-faced baby laughs.  And Sophie laughs along as well.  They are connected.  They are sisters who are learning to be sisters.  Though the difficult moments are still plentiful (juggling time with each of them, with both of them; changing diapers; meals; getting them down for nap(s) and bed; and the list goes on).  My days are FILLED with these girls.  But it's such a good-filling.  Especially when I see them together, playing, talking, laughing.  When Sophie cares for Audrey by helping me bathe her, talking or singing to her when she's discontent, bringing me Audrey's diaper.  All of these things and so many other moments help me get this feeling like, I think it's going to get even better as they grow together.  That is pretty special.  And I can't help but think about the lyrics above and remember that these two girls will have such a wonderful bond.  Will have such a special relationship that will be filled with secret exchanges, heated arguments and fights, loving glances, hand holding, hair pulling, up-all-night chats.  And at the same time, they will see the similarities in their faces and in their character that will be reminded of how they are connected.  Of what they share.  And that warms my heart, as their mother.  They are each other's gift.  That is my daily prayer.
